Sink your teeth
into this hot career.
As a member of the dental health team, dental hygenists help prevent oral disease and educate patients on the maintenance of optimal oral health.
Changing the world, one smile at a time.
Dental Hygenists are especially knowledgeable about the preventive aspects of dental disease. It’s an especially relevant career as people are living longer and keeping more of their own teeth. In fact, the Texas Workforce Commission has included dental hygienists on its list of the Top 50 Hot Jobs in Texas. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics confirms this trend, projecting that there will be 680 Dental Hygienist job openings in Texas each year for the next seven years. That’s more than 4,700 positions that will need to be filled with skilled, qualified personnel through 2022. You will be educated in the basic sciences and development of the clinical skills needed to provide preventive dental care to the public.
TSTC offers an Associate of Applied Arts in Dental Hygiene that requires about five semesters to complete and is the only dental hygiene program south of Corpus Christi that is fully accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
