(RED OAK, Texas) – Texas State Technical College’s North Texas campus hosted representatives from Houston-based electrical engineering and construction services company Saber Power for an employer spotlight on Monday, March 6.
About 16 students from TSTC’s Electrical Power and Controls and Industrial Systems programs sat in on Saber Power’s presentation about the company and what it would look like to work there.
The representatives sent by Saber Power presented information about the company’s competitive pay, full benefits and opportunities for career growth.
“You can go any direction,” Adrienne Morris, a representative from Saber Power’s marketing team, said. “You can grow your own career.”
The representatives discussed the multiple possibilities for career paths and the different opportunities for learning and development. One such opportunity mentioned was that during the training process, a new employee would be paired to work with various senior technicians.
“There’s nothing better than to have a mentor to help educate you and bring you up to speed,” Jim Miller, Saber Power’s regional breaker service manager, said.
As the representatives talked through the various equipment and jobs that the company works on, they invited the instructors to bring their students to tour their facility to gain an even better idea of what it is they do.
Miller said his favorite part about Saber Power is how much the company cares about its employees.
“I think the thing I like most about Saber is that they care about everyone and they truly want to get to know you and help you, and that’s rare to find,” Miller said.
Morris said Saber Power is a growing company that currently has seven offices and serves industrial, commercial and utility customers both inside and outside of Texas.
The representatives said Saber Power has been hiring from TSTC for more than 15 years. At the end of their presentation, they interviewed multiple students for possible job opportunities.
