(HARLINGEN, Texas) – During an evening of celebration on May 10 at Texas State Technical College’s Harlingen location, a group of 24 TSTC Workforce Training and Continuing Education graduates received their certificates of completion.
The graduates were from the Advanced Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machining, NCCER Maritime Welding, and Patient Care Technician programs.
Myra De Leon, TSTC’s executive director for Workforce Training and Continuing Education, welcomed the graduates and told them that their training is a contribution to society.
“We wish our graduates success in the Texas workforce,” she said. “We will always welcome individuals who are looking for a customized field to advance their skills.”
Jesus Sauceda, of San Benito, graduated with an Advanced CNC Machining certificate.
“I feel more confident after learning this skill,” he said. “I will put those skills to use in my job at my family’s business, Sauceda’s Precision Grinding Inc.”
Jamie Suarez-Fox, of Los Fresnos, received her Patient Care Technician certificate.
“It was a proud moment to graduate,” she said. “It was my first time working directly with patients. Previously I worked with medical insurance. I want to further my medical education and see where it takes me.”
Juan Vasquez, of San Benito, graduated with an NCCER Maritime Welding Level 2 certificate.
“It felt great to graduate,” he said. “This program gave me the opportunity to study a trade that I didn’t get to when I was younger. My instructor (Juan Esparza) enjoyed sharing his knowledge with us.”
