(SWEETWATER, Texas) – Brittany Wilson was among the recipients of the 2024 Texas State Technical College Chancellor’s Cornerstone Awards.
Wilson, program team lead for TSTC’s Automotive Technology and Diesel Equipment Technology programs in Sweetwater, was one of five recipients statewide. Also receiving the honor were Amanda Molina, director of visual media in Waco; Robert Morman, a Vocational Nursing instructor in Harlingen; Christy Sais, an associate manager of admissions and enrollment in Waco; and Amanda Sandoval, senior manager of the registrar’s office in Harlingen.
“I feel honored that my teammates think highly of me,” Wilson said. “My philosophy is to leave a good impression on people so they know they can depend on me.”
The yearly awards process begins with TSTC employees submitting nominations, which are reviewed before being sent to Mike Reeser, TSTC’s chancellor and CEO, who makes the final decision.
“The TSTC Cornerstone Award celebrates more than just achievement,” Reeser said. “The recipients also positively impact the workplace at TSTC through modeling our core values on a day-to-day basis. So they do more than get things done — they help the entire team be better.”
GaBrielle Mallet, TSTC’s associate provost of the Sweetwater campus, said Wilson dedicates her time to promoting the college.
“No matter where Brittany goes, whether it is locally in Sweetwater or at events around the region, she wants people to know that she is proud to be part of the TSTC family,” Mallet said. “She embodies our four core values, which are excellence, accountability, service and integrity.”
Wilson has been with TSTC for more than six years, beginning with the Career Services team in Sweetwater. In that capacity, she worked with students to prepare them for job interviews, built relationships with industry partners and conducted various workshops for students.
In 2023, Wilson was named program team lead for the two Sweetwater programs. She works with instructors and students while networking with industry partners to ensure that the programs offer what the workforce needs.
“I would like to congratulate Brittany on this prestigious honor,” Andy Weaver, TSTC’s provost of the West Texas campuses, said. “She joins a great group of recipients who work daily to make sure we meet our mission of placing more Texans in great-paying jobs.”
Wilson said being part of a group of previous winners is something she will treasure.
“I still remember when I first heard about this award at TSTC,” she said. “It sounded absolutely incredible to win. But to be honest, I never imagined I’d actually be chosen.”
