(COMAL AND GUADALUPE COUNTIES, Texas) – Texas State Technical College is advancing workforce development along the Texas Highway 46 corridor, with plans to establish a new campus in Seguin while expanding offerings at its New Braunfels location.
This strategic move strengthens the college’s commitment to addressing regional workforce needs and supporting the area’s rapid economic growth.
“Comal and Guadalupe counties are among the fastest-growing regions in the state and home to a large concentration of industrial employers,” Mike Reeser, TSTC’s chancellor and CEO, said. “So the Legislature’s decision to expand TSTC into this region is timely and sure to contribute to the economic prosperity this region will see for decades to come.”
The expansion has garnered enthusiastic support from local leaders who recognize its transformative impact on the region.
“The city of Seguin is thrilled to welcome Texas State Technical College to our community with the development of their new campus,” Mayor Donna Dodgen said. “This initiative aligns perfectly with Seguin’s Economic Development Strategic Plan, emphasizing the importance of workforce development and educational opportunities. The benefits of this campus will extend far beyond Seguin, strengthening our long-standing partnership with New Braunfels as we work together to address regional workforce challenges. This is a pivotal moment for the entire region as we collectively build a stronger future.”
The Seguin Economic Development Corp. also praised the project for its game-changing potential.
“The future Texas State Technical College campus is a timely and vital addition to our region, addressing the growing demand for workforce training in high-wage, high-demand industries,” Josh Schneuker, executive director of the Seguin Economic Development Corp., said. “TSTC’s specialized programs will equip residents with the skills needed to secure quality careers, empowering individuals to transform their lives and create brighter futures for their families. This campus will serve as a catalyst for economic growth and opportunity, benefiting Seguin, New Braunfels and the surrounding communities for years to come.”
New Braunfels Mayor Neal Linnartz said TSTC’s regional approach is welcomed by area leaders.
“TSTC has rapidly expanded its offerings, and their plans to grow further are exciting,” Linnartz said. This expansion highlights the need for regional advocacy. The city and business community are committed to advocating for the region at next year’s state legislative session.”
In Seguin, the announcement is seen as a vital milestone in achieving the city’s long-term vision for economic growth.
TSTC’s new campus in Seguin, coupled with enhanced programs in New Braunfels, will equip students with industry-relevant skills and directly address the demand for a highly trained workforce in industries like advanced manufacturing, building construction, allied health and transportation.
By fostering partnerships with local industries and regional leaders, TSTC continues to solidify its role as a catalyst for economic resilience and growth. Together, TSTC and the communities of Comal and Guadalupe counties are building a brighter future for the Texas workforce.
