(HARLINGEN, Texas) – Cole Ogle, a Web Design and Development student at Texas State Technical College, feels like he is on top of the world.
Ogle recently received a $5,000 scholarship from the Advertising Education Foundation of Houston, and he completed an internship with the Astoria Media Group in Abilene.
“I was honored to be one of the top applicants for this scholarship,” the Hawley resident said.
Larry Kelley, president of the Advertising Education Foundation of Houston, said the organization provides 15 scholarships a year for students from a college or university located in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas to help cover tuition and fees.
“Applicants were evaluated on three criteria: academic excellence, financial need, and passion for going into advertising,” Kelley said. “Cole fit that criteria.”

Ogle said his internship at the Astoria Media Group, a digital marketing agency, has helped prepare him for the workforce.
“As a website development intern, I helped clients with their websites by doing maintenance, providing content creation, and other duties,” he said.
Julie Rhoades, a TSTC Web Design and Development instructor, said Ogle’s self-discipline helped him to succeed in the fully online program.
“Cole is dedicated to producing great work and readily implements recommendations to improve his work,” she said.
Ogle said TSTC is providing him with the tools for a career.
“TSTC has a very high standard for how a website should be, and I follow that,” he said.
According to onetonline.org, web developers earn an average of $93,180 a year in Texas, where the number of jobs was projected to increase 24% between 2020 and 2030.
