Taylor High School senior Miguel Morales signs a letter of intent to attend TSTC’s Williamson County campus for Welding Technology during the National CTE Letter of Intent Signing Day event at TSTC’s Williamson County campus on April 10.

(HUTTO, Texas) – Seniors from several area high schools participated in the NC3 National CTE (career and technical education) Letter of Intent Signing Day event at Texas State Technical College’s Williamson County campus on Thursday, April 10.

“It’s a wonderful day when new students come to us to prepare for great-paying jobs in the Texas workforce,” said Kelly Coke, provost at TSTC’s Williamson County campus.

Zarius Brooks, a senior at Georgetown High School, said he will enroll in TSTC’s Computer Networking and Systems Administration program. He said he found TSTC because of his summer job with the city of Georgetown.

“Last year I worked at Georgetown City Hall in the IT department,” he said. “I was breaking down and rebuilding computers, and they recommended this program, saying it’s a good school.”

Carole Brooks, Zarius Brooks’ mother, said she is proud of her son’s decision and is excited to see him sign up for the program.

“Since he was a baby, he’s been into computers,” she said. “It’s how he speaks to the world.”

Miguel Morales, of Taylor, is graduating this spring from Taylor High School and has already been part of TSTC’s Welding Technology dual credit program. He is eager to get started on the next phase of his education this fall.

“I signed up for welding in eighth grade for my freshman year,” Morales said. “I welded for four years in high school, and now I’ll pursue my associate degree. No one in my family is a welder. I’m doing my own thing.”

TSTC’s Williamson County campus is located in the East Williamson County Higher Education Center in Hutto. The campus offers certificates of completion and degrees in Advanced Manufacturing, Computer Networking and Systems Administration, Cybersecurity, HVAC Technology, Precision Machining Technology and Welding Technology.
