Fall Commencement

(ABILENE, Texas) – Texas State Technical College honored 115 graduates representing the four West Texas campuses during its Fall 2022 Commencement on Thursday, Dec. 15, at the Abilene Convention Center.

Students received Associate of Applied Science degrees or certificates of completion in programs offered at the Abilene, Breckenridge, Brownwood and Sweetwater campuses.

Andy Weaver, provost of the West Texas campuses, said TSTC’s faculty and staff are excited to see what comes next for the graduates.

“We know that a new journey awaits you as you get on the road to your career and profession that you are seeking,” he said. “We are proud and excited for you as we share your accomplishment with your family and friends. We recognize the commitment and perseverance it took to reach this milestone.”

Weaver said graduates had one goal throughout their time at TSTC: to start a career in a great-paying job.

“You now have the skills you need to be a productive member of the Texas workforce,” he said. “As you move into the next chapter in your life, remember that you will always be part of the TSTC family.”

Britin Garcia, who received a certificate of completion in Vocational Nursing, said completing the program achieved a lifelong goal.

“It shows that all the hard work I put in the program has paid off. I could not have done this without my family’s support,” he said. “I am excited they will be here to be part of the celebration.”

Jacqueline Rodriguez, who also received a certificate of completion in Vocational Nursing, said her biggest cheerleader helped her during school.

“My five-year-old daughter is the most excited for me,” she said. “Earning this certificate means the world to me. I wanted to show my daughter I could accomplish my goal. She is the entire reason why I started and finished this journey.”

Colten Butts, who received an Associate of Applied Science degree in Industrial Systems, said TSTC prepared him for his career.

“TSTC has opened a lot of doors for me, and I have made connections I will cherish for the rest of my life,” he said. “I am glad to be moving on to the next phase of my life.”

Jose Ortiz, who earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Wind Energy Technology, said TSTC has given him the chance to find a career.

“TSTC allowed me to put my first steps into the door of a career,” he said. “Attending TSTC and earning my degree gave me the advantages I needed to find a job.”

Alayna Betts, who earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Electromechanical Technology, said TSTC led to her getting multiple job offers.
