(ABILENE, Texas) – Texas State Technical College honored 58 employees from the four West Texas campuses for their service during the summer Employee Appreciation Day last month.
Employees and their families enjoyed a cookout prepared by faculty and staff, several inflatable bounce houses and slides, and a visit to the Abilene Zoo. Door prizes were given away to employees in attendance.
“I am proud of our team in West Texas,” said Andy Weaver, provost of the West Texas campuses.
For the first time, TSTC honored employees who had completed one year of employment.
“We have a lot of new faces in West Texas because of the opportunities we have for our students,” Weaver said. “We are growing because the West Texas region is growing.”
Employees honored for one year of employment were Odessa Aguire, recruiting customer service specialist; Phillip Benavidez, maintenance worker; Kari Bewley, Advocacy and Resource Center coach; Heather Bronkhorst, enrollment coach; James Bryant, Vocational Nursing instructor; Holley Carter, student recruitment representative; Amanda Clark, substantive change administrator; Michael Clesh, software implementation specialist; Joan Coldiron, Vocational Nursing instructor; Whitney Cox, student recruitment representative; Lara Embry, workforce trainer; Emma Foust, food service specialist; Cindy Hamlin, enrollment coach; William Hicks, instructional designer; Ross Jones, Aviation Maintenance instructor; Austin Lara, maintenance worker; Candice Leonard, enrollment coach; David Martinez, enrollment coach; Steven McCaslin, Emergency Medical Services program director; Joshua Pedroza, student recruitment representative; Melissa Reando, performance-based education mentor; Ryan Salome, student recruitment representative; Zachery Swinney, veteran recruitment representative; Jacey Tomlin, student recruitment representative; Dora Wagnon, Campus Store customer service associate; Jake Whitley, Professional Driving Academy trainer; and Christina Zamarripa, student recruitment representative.
Those receiving five-year service awards were Daniel Diaz, Industrial Systems instructor; Nathan Ehlert, senior executive director for financial analysis and budgeting; Richard Filut, statewide instructional administration; Scott Hodkinson, security and compliance analyst; Stephen Hope, Welding Technology instructor; Jesse James, senior science instructor; Jennifer Jenson, enrollment coach; Christopher Johnson, graduation coordinator; Billie Jones, Wind Energy Technology statewide instructional administration; Matthew Kimbrough, custodial worker; Kody King, police officer; Christopher Lara, inventory control technician; Charlene Rice, Associate Degree in Nursing instructor; Kevin Staton, Electrical Power and Controls instructor; Tony Torres, statewide Web Design and Development program lead; and Brittany Wilson, Career Services coordinator.
Julie Browning, executive assistant to the vice chancellor; Cindy Brunett, Workforce Development and Continuing Education executive director; Jan Harvey, senior executive director of institutional revenue; Christina Hollis, interim online provost; and Shannon Weir, Diesel Equipment Technology instructor, each received a 10-year service award.
Jake Bedgood, graphic designer; Carly Kahl, social and behavioral science associate professor; Adrian Medrano, Computer Networking and Systems Administration instructor; Omar Salinas, production chef; and Monica Wagner, physical plant executive director, were honored for 15 years with TSTC.
Janie Arellano, accounting assistant; Duston Brooks, Business Management Technology instructor; Patty Odom, commercial art and advertising associate professor; Guillermo Rodriguez, workforce trainer; and Troy Williamson, technical math associate professor, received 20-year service awards.
