(WACO, Texas) – Texas State Technical College’s Waco campus hosted state Rep. Caroline Harris, R-Round Rock, for a tour on Wednesday, Sept. 20.
Harris visited the Industrial Systems, Precision Machining Technology and Robotics and Industrial Controls Technology programs.
“It’s good exposure for her to take back to the Legislature on the value of what we do here,” said Corey Mayo, lead instructor in the Robotics and Industrial Controls Technology program.
During the tour Harris received a short lesson on how to operate a robotic arm, looked at small projects machining students have done and saw pumps and computer numerical controlled machines up close. She learned about the robotics program’s job placement for graduating students and how machining students are taught 3D programming.
“I am very proud of the work TSTC is doing and I think that our job in the Legislature is to only continue to help them in their work because it has been so successful,” Harris said.
Harris represents House District 52 which encompasses a portion of Williamson County. TSTC’s East Williamson County campus is in Hutto, which is in her district.
The tour was coordinated by TSTC’s Government Relations department.
