(NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas) – Classes began this week in two certificate of completion programs new to Texas State Technical College’s New Braunfels campus: Structural Welding and Industrial Systems Mechanic – Electrical.
Mike Anderson, the campus’s provost, is happy with the additions.
“I have been looking forward to this for a long time,” he said. “This growth is a result of hard work from the faculty and staff. We are ecstatic about the programs starting.”
The Structural Welding instructor, Manuel Guerrero, is teaching 45 new students divided into two classes.
“The first week of classes went very well,” Guerrero said. “The students are engaging with me and their classmates, and they seem to be very excited about the semester ahead.”
The Industrial Systems Mechanic – Electrical program is starting with 24 students. Joel McCracken is one of the instructors.
“The students will begin hands-on work with materials after only a couple of weeks,” he said. “We don’t waste time.”
