How did TSTC influence your career?
When I was a student at TSTC, an instructor named Tony Towery influenced me to learn this industry after graduating because he was once a TAB professional and knew how needed it is.
What is a typical workday like for you?
A typical day for me consists of hands-on testing commercial HVAC equipment for things like proper airflow, installation and water flow. It also consists of communicating with contractors, construction managers and co-workers to maintain a consistent schedule. I recently was on-site at a new Buc-ee’s being built in Amarillo.
How do you keep up with changes in your career field?
A part of EAB that keeps us up to date with a constantly evolving industry is connecting to industry leaders such as the AABC, the American National Standards Institute and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers. We also have in-house training with standards from each of these committees. EAB is an AABC-certified company.
What excites you each day?
Every day, I am excited to see and do something new. EAB offers me that with the wide range of clients that we maintain. I have been part of some of the largest projects in America, and that excites me. I have used my trade in schools, data centers, banks, hospitals, law offices, aquatic centers, and many more projects. EAB offers a career with many exciting opportunities.
What career advice do you have?
When you start your career, if you are consistently dependable, your opportunities will always grow.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there will be a need for more than 480,000 heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers in 2033 in the United States.
