(HARLINGEN, Texas) – College Factual recently placed Texas State Technical College at the top of its list of Best Construction Trades Associate Degree Schools in the United States for 2025.
According to its website, collegefactual.com, the company was created to help students research colleges and careers. It gathers data from public and private sources, including the U.S. Department of Education.
“The ranking means growth for our program and that students can receive a quality construction education,” said Hector Rosa, TSTC’s Building Construction Technology program team lead in Harlingen. “Our students train for the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) and OSHA-30 (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) certifications. Those certifications now are being recommended by industry employers for our new graduates to have before they get hired.”
TSTC’s New Braunfels campus, the college’s newest, will be home to the Building Construction Technology program next fall.
“The community support we have been receiving from San Antonio to Austin and the cities in between has been incredible,” William Beck, the program’s team lead in New Braunfels, said. “We look forward to getting students registered.”
Julie Threlkeld, who leads the program in Waco, said its students should be on time for class, have their tools ready, demonstrate a positive attitude and listen to their instructors.
“We reinforce the skills (they) need on the jobsite,” Threlkeld said.
In the week since the spring semester began, new students in the Building Construction Technology program have been introduced to the curriculum and construction labs, while advanced students are progressing to the next segment of their hands-on training.
Marco Cruz, of Raymondville, is a returning student who is studying for an Associate of Applied Science degree in the program.
“The (College Factual) ranking reassures me that I chose a good program to pursue in college,” he said. “It gives a student an upper hand to learn more in depth about the trade that we are studying.”
