(ABILENE, Texas) – Texas State Technical College works with students to make sure all of their needs are met. That includes when they are not in the classroom.

The college’s Advocacy and Resource Center (ARC) will host a community resource fair for students in Abilene on Wednesday, Feb. 5, and one week later in Sweetwater on Feb. 12. Both fairs will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Abilene event will be held at the Industrial Technology Center, while the Sweetwater event will be held in the Student Center gymnasium.

Kati Bewley, the ARC coordinator for the West Texas campuses, said they are important events for students.

“We are dedicated to supporting our students by addressing nonacademic challenges that may arise, helping them stay focused on their journeys toward graduation,” she said. “Our office is a vital resource and referral hub, offering the guidance and support students need when life presents unexpected obstacles.”

At past resource fairs, local law enforcement, county and state agencies, and other organizations have discussed their services with students.

“We appreciate the agencies taking the time out of their day to showcase their services to our students,” Bewley said. “Our mission is to equip them with the resources, information and assistance they need to overcome difficulties and achieve success.”

Agencies interested in attending the Sweetwater fair may contact Bewley at kati.bewley@tstc.edu, or Amy Buchanan at amy.freeman@tstc.edu for the Abilene fair. The deadline to register for a table is Feb. 3 for Abilene and Feb. 10 for Sweetwater.

“This will be a wonderful opportunity to share your services and resources directly with our students, fostering connections that could make a meaningful impact in their lives,” Bewley said.
