(ROSENBERG, Texas) – Fourteen prospective students committed to attending Texas State Technical College next fall during the NC3 National CTE (career and technical education) Letter of Intent Signing Day event on Thursday, April 10, at the college’s Fort Bend County campus.

For each of them, it was an important step in starting the journey toward a technical career. Frances Kelly, Lead Generation Coordinator for TSTC, shared how proud she was of them during a speech at the event.

“You have chosen the path of a great career, assisting in your community and making good money,” Kelly said. “When things get tough, you’ll be able to look back on this as a show of your commitment.”

Students came up one by one to be celebrated by their peers and family as they signed their papers. Each had chosen their respective programs for different reasons, but all were excited for the next steps.

Joshua Ordonez, future student of the Welding Technology program, said he found TSTC through his friends.

“I had heard good things about the welding program here,” Ordonez said. “Many of my friends are welders, and they make good money.”

Another student at the event, Eddie Gonzalez, is set to attend the new Automotive Technology program opening in the fall.

“One of my friend’s mothers works here (at TSTC),” Gonzalez said. “I was looking into the program in Waco but then heard about it starting up here.”

While he already works at an auto body shop, Gonzalez said he plans on enrolling to earn his associate degree in order to raise his pay and expertise.
