(ROSENBERG, Texas) – The degree or certification is not the end goal for those who attend Texas State Technical College; rather, the goal is to find and get a high-paying job in their field. The college’s employer spotlights are designed for that exact purpose.

Many times a semester, employers from various industries will visit TSTC to share information about their businesses, current job openings they may have and general industry information. Students from relevant programs will attend and are encouraged to ask questions.

This week saw representatives from two employers visit TSTC’s Fort Bend County campus: J&S Water Wells, who visited Electrical Lineworker and Management Technology students, and Parking Guidance Systems LLC, who visited with students from Electrical Power and Controls, Industrial Systems, and Robotics and Industrial Controls Technology.

Stephen Evans, chief technology officer at Parking Guidance Systems, shared details about what they do and who they are looking for.

“We’re looking for technicians who can look at the large picture, but also go micro and troubleshoot the small problems as well,” Evans said. “We are looking to hire right away, including for internships over the summer.”

It is common for employers who visit TSTC to be looking to hire as soon as possible, making it a great opportunity for them and soon-to-be graduating students to interact. One such student, Isai Rodriguez from the Industrial Systems program, was interested in the presentation given by Evans.

“I’m looking for a job that gives value to my time, and this one seems to do so,” Rodriguez said. “I like when employers are more open about pay and lifestyle.”

He and Evans were able to connect following the presentation about potential job opportunities.

Registration for the summer and fall semesters is now open. For more information, go to tstc.edu.
