(HARLINGEN, Texas) – Customer service is the driving force behind the devoted team members in Enrollment Services at Texas State Technical College.

Charyck Mascorro, of Los Fresnos, is an assistant director of enrollment at TSTC, where he is a passionate advocate for both prospective and current students.

“I was a first-generation college student who didn’t have the guidance during my collegiate path,” he said. “That’s why I extend my assistance to TSTC students. I find great satisfaction in helping them attain their educational goals.”

Mascorro said his department helps students beyond getting them enrolled.

“Enrollment coaches help students with academic progress, including their well-being outside of college,” he said. “We assist them in all areas of life when they enroll.”

He added that TSTC is a great place to work because of its culture of caring.

“The work culture is family-oriented and welcoming,” he said. “In the Enrollment Services department, there is a firm trust with my teammates. There is open communication, and we help each other to succeed. Additionally, I have outstanding supervisors who believe in my leadership skills.”

Mascorro earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management of Human Resources from Bellevue University in 2017. Then he earned a Master of Science degree in Organizational Performance from the same university in 2021.

Mascorro’s previous work experience relates well to his current job.

“I used to work as a case manager for three nonprofit organizations,” he said. “With that expertise, I wanted to apply those skills in a higher education setting.”

Ricardo Trevino, TSTC’s assistant director of Enrollment Services in Harlingen, said he is impressed with Mascorro’s ability to connect with TSTC’s faculty, staff and students.

“Luis is an innovative team member who seeks to aid others above and beyond their needs,” he said. “Through his years of service at TSTC, he brings expertise in conflict management and organizational change. He is compassionate to see all students develop their skills.”
