(ABILENE, Texas) – Texas State Technical College honored several employees for their service to the college during a recent employee appreciation day celebration.
Andy Weaver, provost of the West Texas campuses, thanked each employee for their contributions to the college.
“The lives we are able to change every day when we come to work are priceless. Many of them we do not even know about,” he said. “Someone at TSTC is making a difference for someone every single day. We are helping place more Texans in high-paying jobs with the work we do.”
Employees were honored for five, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years of service after enjoying a barbecue lunch. Following the presentation, employees participated in a variety of activities at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Abilene.
Employees honored for five years of service were Tracy Calvin, Campus Store associate; Shellie Glass, executive assistance for maintenance; Melissa Hall, custodial; Winnie King, Emergency Medical Services instructor; Whitnee McGee, student accounting manager; Kayleigh McKay, contract manager; Jim Speckels, development education instructor; Karen Stancil, adjunct faculty for academics; Sierra Velasquez; contract manager; and Jenny Wingate, Vocational Nursing instructor.
Honored for 10 years of service were Marguerite Lane, Information Technology field support tech; Michael Ordway, maintenance mechanic; Kimberly Porter, vice president of sales; Katrina Stotts, Health Information Technology instructor; Lillie Sustaita, custodial; and Karen Waller, vice president of facilities planning and construction.
Four employees were recognized for 15 years with the college. They were Rick Alvarado, instructional digital media specialist; Jessica Chavira, executive director of purchasing; JoLynn Hightower, Business Management Technology instructor; and Steven Shahan, Information Technology field support technician.
Mayra Juarez, assistant director of enrollment, and Chris Prado, cook, were recognized for 20 years with TSTC.
Clark Evans, Information Technology enterprise and integration analyst; Jose Navarrette, housing director; and Rene Ralston, director of Dual Enrollment, were honored for 25 years with the college.
