TSTC North Texas Electrical Power and Controls

(RED OAK, Texas) – Texas State Technical College’s North Texas campus has record enrollment for the fall semester.

“It is a really cool term to say,” said Marcus Balch, provost of TSTC’s North Texas campus.

More than 400 students had enrolled in classes as of the college’s official census date of Tuesday, Sept. 17. It marks a 38.6% increase from fall 2023’s enrollment.

Megan Redmond, the campus’s associate manager of advising and enrollment, said a concerted effort among academic advisors and enrollment staff helped spread the word about TSTC and keep students focused on graduating.

“We definitely wanted to grow the (number of) students and make the campus grow to our full potential,” Redmond said.

The Electrical Power and Controls program’s 83 students make it the campus’s largest technical program this semester.

Jeremy Deadmon has witnessed the program’s growth during the time since he was one of two students who graduated from it in North Texas in summer 2017. Deadmon has taught for two years in the program.

“It makes me happy and proud coming back here to teach and seeing the students become inspired,” he said. “We have more companies coming in recruiting our students. We have day and night classes.”

Applications for spring semester 2025 are now being accepted. Registration for spring semester classes begins Monday, Oct. 28.
